NCH Childrens Centre
NCH is now Action for Children.
THERE IS NEW INFORMATION ON THIS SITE REGARDING BENEFITS - Please follow "Benefits Information" link.
THE PROJECT
The project was set up to improve inter-agency working for children/young people with special needs. One way of doing this is to provide parents with information. An information centre is available at 6 Merlins Court. Parents are welcome to contact the centre in person or by telephone.
The centre is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.00pm.
THE SERVICES WE RUN
Information centre
We collect information on all kinds of issues related to caring for a child/young person with special needs. The information folders are sponsored by Texaco and the information provided is now available on this site. You can call in or telephone with queries. If the information is not immediately available, every effort will be made to obtain the information required.
A place to meet
Thanks to funding from Texaco, there is a comfortable meeting room available free of charge to any group involved with disabled children/young people. The Child Development Team holds regular meeting in the centre, as do parent support groups. It can also be used as a training room.
Co-ordination scheme

A Keyworker system is available to a limited number of families where a severely disabled child/young person is receiving services from more than two agencies. Keyworkers co-ordinate services, offer support to the whole family, provide information as required and acts as an advocate when necessary.
IS YOUR CHILD/YOUNG PERSON REGISTERED?
The Specific Needs Register was set up in 2000. It is used to provide parents with relevant information as well as to help improve services in Pembrokeshire.
What is the purpose of the Register?
The register is used to improve current services to disabled children/young people in Pembrokeshire. It is also used to provide quarterly and annual statistical information which helps to improve the planning process for all agencies and to identify changing trends and needs so that services can be put in place to meet them.
How will it benefit me?
As a parent of a disabled child/young person on the register, you will receive a newsletter twice a year containing useful and interesting information. You will also be invited to attend relevant training courses throughout the year run by both ourselves and other voluntary organisations throughout Pembrokeshire. We also hold an annual fun day for registered children/young people.
How do I register my child/young person?
Registering your child/young person is simple. Just complete a form, you can download this form by going into the Specific Needs Register page on this site. They are also available via us at the children's centre, from your Health Visitor, or from your School Nurse, make sure all the relevant details are complete and that you have signed the form, and then return it to us. We will do the rest.
